Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko wasn't impressed by Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar's emotional display after he crashed on the formation lap at the Australian Grand Prix in his Formula 1 debut.

"Isack Hadjar did a little bit of crying after his crash," Marko told ORF, according to ESPN's Nate Saunders. "That was a bit embarrassing."

Hadjar couldn't participate in what should have been his first F1 race after his car ended up in the wall. The Racing Bulls pilot lost control on the wet Melbourne track just past the first corner during the formation lap. He was in tears as he exited the track and was consoled by Anthony Hamilton, the father of Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton.

Hadjar told media after the incident that he was "embarrassed" and "sorry" for the team, according to Alicia Turner of BBC.

"It's not up to me to decide how people think of how good I am," the 20-year-old said. "I'm just going to try and come back in China with less silly mistakes."

Hadjar also revealed that the elder Hamilton told him "to keep my head high and tell myself I did well (Saturday in qualifying)," according to Samarth Kanal and Matt Beer of The Race.

The French driver had a quality weekend before the incident: He was slated to start 11th, the best spot out of all the rookies on the 2025 grid. Four of the six rookies in Sunday's race failed to start or retired.
