Ranking the 2026 Formula 1 liveries

X

All 11 Formula 1 teams officially revealed their 2026 liveries. There's a lot of variety in the colors chosen, which is a refreshing start to this era of regulations.

Here are all the 2026 liveries ranked from worst to best.

11. Aston Martin

Aston Martin was the final team to reveal its 2026 design, and unfortunately, the grid did not save its best look for last. While the signature racing green remains, the introduction of Aston Martin's first-ever matte satin finish feels like an odd choice, given that other outfits pivoted to a glossier concept. At least the new Honda branding looks pretty sweet.

10. Alpine

The Alpine livery is similar to its 2025 predecessor, which isn't a bad thing. But it's not very exciting either. The color scheme works well together, but in a season when Alpine has been vocal about changing its status as a consistent backmarker, a makeover would've been a great way to hammer that point home. Again, there's nothing wrong with the look. There just isn't much to say that wasn't already said last year.

9. Ferrari

The blue HP logo isn't going away, no matter how much it sticks out like a sore thumb. However, Ferrari's latest livery is a welcome improvement over last year's design, evoking memories of the Scuderia's classic 312T and the team's 2016-18 red-and-white liveries. Still, the black halo, much like the HP logo, stands out for all the wrong reasons.

8. Audi

You have to hand it to Audi. The German manufacturer went bold with its inaugural livery for its F1 debut. The silver is menacing and a great choice as it'll almost surely look great on the track. The lava red secondary color also brings Audi's identity to life - just what this new F1 manufacturer needs. But how those two colors interact almost feels too abrupt. Maybe a gradient red would've looked better. Although the R26 has the right colors and foundation to become a staple livery, it's perhaps a few evolutions away.

7. Williams

Williams made a few tweaks to its 2026 livery, keeping the iconic glossy blue while incorporating a lighter blue for its new Barclays sponsor. The addition of white on the sidepod also injects extra character and flair. Although the lighter blue features feel like an awkward fit to appease a sponsor, it doesn't overpower the design. Overall, there's more good than bad in the FW48's look.

6. McLaren

Much like Alpine, McLaren carried over a large portion of last year's concept to 2026. I've been critical of copycat designs, but the Woking outfit earns a pass - this is, after all, a championship-winning livery. This iconic papaya-orange-and-black scheme has delivered back-to-back constructors' titles and a drivers' championship, so it's understandable if McLaren is a bit superstitious. Notably, the improved sponsorship placement suits this livery much better than last season's car.

5. Racing Bulls

The blue accents in the Ford branding are a small detail that makes a big difference on a livery that was ranked at the top in 2025. Last season's Racing Bulls car made waves for being fun and different on an otherwise static grid, but the 2026 version has a more aggressive look that demands to be taken seriously, even if that doesn't come to fruition. The only minor gripe comes from the removal of the tiny bulls that appeared on the engine cover last year. Regardless, the current Racing Bulls livery is one of the easiest on the eyes out of the entire grid.

4. Cadillac

Wow, who saw that coming? Cadillac delivered the surprise of livery season by debuting a split design for its inaugural F1 season during Super Bowl LX. One side of the car is predominantly white, while the other is black. Fans should be applauding Cadillac for its uniqueness and creativity - traits that many F1 teams have lost over the years - but pulling off a dual livery is incredibly tough to do. Though F1's newest entry could fall into the trap of being good at two concepts rather than great at one, this was a big-time reveal for a big-time stage. That's how you make an entrance.

3. Mercedes

Mercedes stays true to its roots with the iconic silver-and-black finish on the W17 livery, and it's a slick look. Petronas turquoise coloring and AMG-branded stripes along the sidepods inject fresh energy, complementing the classic colors without overwhelming them. While the stripes could remind some of a soccer cleat, the overall effect is refined and dynamic. Ultimately, this is a look worthy of pulling up to a P1 pit board.

2. Red Bull

Red Bull has finally made a significant livery change for the first time since 2016, ditching its traditional matte finish for a return to a shiny sheen. In a nod to its past, the team also restored a crisp white outline to the Red Bull logo, while the deeper blue, introduced for Ford, pushes the gloss finish into new territory. There's no telling if Red Bull will be fast this season, but this stunning livery is sure to attract a lot of TV time. By mixing a modern look with all the best pieces of nostalgia, this livery fires on all cylinders.

1. Haas

If looks were everything, Haas would undoubtedly be a consistent race winner. By fully embracing the new rule requiring at least 55% of the car to be painted or stickered, Haas hit a home run with its 2026 design. There's significantly less carbon fibre, and the increased white finish makes the red and black accents pop significantly. With Toyota Gazoo Racing as the new title sponsor, the 2026 VF-26's red-and-white color scheme pays tribute to the legendary Toyotas from the Japanese manufacturer's first F1 stint in the 2000s.
