Struggling French Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne on Friday appointed Eirik Horneland as their new coach.
The Norwegian replaces Olivier Dall'Oglio who was sacked last week with the club battling relegation in 16th.
This is the 49-year-old Horneland's first post abroad.
He leaves SK Brann, runners-up in the Norwegian league in the past two seasons and winners of the domestic cup last year.
His mission will be to "bring the experience he's gained at SK Brann to establish a culture of performance and style of play specific to Saint-Etienne," the club said.
He takes charge next week, with academy coach Laurent Huard in the dugout for Sunday's French Cup clash with Marseille.
