Monchengladbach signs teen Doucoure from Paris Saint-Germain

Borussia Monchengladbach has an eye on the future, signing highly regarded teenage centre-back Mamadou Doucoure from Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year deal.

Doucoure, 18, completed his medical Friday before signing his deal, the club announced.

"We're delighted that Mamadou Docoure has decided to join Borussia. He is a huge talent and there were lots of big clubs looking to sign him," Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said.

"With this transfer, we are continuing our tradition of bringing young players with lots of potential to the club and giving them an opportunity to take their careers to the next level."

Football fans may already be familiar with Doucoure for two reasons, one of which won't be fodder for his CV.

Doucoure was famously involved in former PSG teammate Serge Aurier's homophobic remarks towards manager Laurent Blanc that were broadcast on Periscope. It was Doucoure who was filmed asking Aurier the questions that led to the Ivorian's suspension from the club.

Gladbach's newest signing first appeared on the continent's radar after a stellar display in France's European Under-17 Championship victory, leading the team from the back while only conceding twice in six matches.
