Toulouse nabs Delort from Tigres

Smile, Andy, you're back in France.

Andy Delort's Mexican sabbatical has come to an end, with the forward joining Toulouse on a permanent deal from Liga MX giant Tigres.

Les Pitchouns announced the move Saturday, with the well-travelled 25-year-old joining Pascal Dupraz's lot on a reported four-year deal for a fee of €6 million.

Delort, who has enjoyed an unconventional rise to top-flight football, made the Tigres switch in September, joining up with fellow French forward Andre-Pierre Gignac on a four-year deal for a reported €8 million. With Tigres, Delort was used sparingly as the club stunningly captured the 2016 Apertura crown.

Now back in France, Delort will hope to revisit the form he exhibited with Caen prior to his move to Mexico.

His 2015-16 campaign with Caen was a career best, as Delort paired a dozen goals with two assists in forming a lethal two-pronged attack with Ronny Rodelin. A season with Caen proved to be Delort's top-flight breakthrough preceded by spells with Tours, Wigan Athletic, Ajaccio, and Nimes after emerging in 2009 as a beach soccer talent managed by former French great Eric Cantona.

With Toulouse, Delort is likely to ease some of the pressure on Danish international attacker Martin Braithwaite, who leads the 10th-placed side with seven goals this campaign.
