Salibur sticks with Guingamp as FIFA blocks reported Hull move
Yannis Salibur, unpack your bags.
After a reported 11th-hour move to Hull City was blocked by FIFA, the attacking midfielder is set to stay put with Breton's Guingamp.
Expected to join Marco Silva's rejuvenated Tigers alongside fellow Ligue 1 standout Kamil Grosicki in the transfer window's waning moments, Salibur's switch was impeded by the governing body for the submission of late paperwork, according to L'Equipe.
A Guingamp statement Wednesday confirmed that Salibur will now return to Antoine Kombouare's squad for Wednesday's south-coast sojourn at Marseille after receiving permission from the Ligue de Football Professional (LFP.)
"En Avant confirms having obtained this day from the LFP the re-qualification of Yannis Salibur's contract," the statement reads.
"The player has continued training with En Avant is in fact at the disposal of Antoine Kombouaré for the trip this Wednesday in Marseille."
Neither club has publicly commented on the player's specific destination, though Hull boss Marco Silva was asked ahead of Saturday's shock victory over languid Liverpool about the proposed moves for Grosicki and the 26-year-old versatile Lille academy product.
"We are still waiting. Up to now, we don't have the final decision of FIFA," the Portuguese gaffer admitted, courtesy of the Daily Mail.
"When we have, we will let you know. We don't have a date."
Even without Salibur's addition, Hull had a busy January transfer window that breathed life into a squad that appeared destined for the drop.
In addition to Polish international Grosicki's €9-million move from Rennes, the East Yorkshire club lured Oumar Niasse, Lazar Markovic, Andrea Ranocchia, Alfred N'Diaye, Omar Elabdellaoui, and Evandro to the KCOM.
All seven players featured in Hull's 2-0 weekend victory over Liverpool.
