Report: Neymar told Barcelona's squad he's going to PSG
Neymar is reportedly spreading the word, letting teammates know he'll be leaving the Camp Nou.
Neymar already told Barcelona's squad that he's going to Paris Saint-Germain, according to Mundo Deportivo's Roger Torello, as the Brazilian phenom informed his closest colleagues Thursday, the day he and Nelson Semedo were involved in a scuffle. The Blaugrana's board is apparently yet to hear the news from the Santos Futebol Clube product or his father, but assumes he'll be leaving.
There is allegedly no turning back, and Neymar will leave Barcelona once PSG pays the buyout clause. Those closest to the footballer - who were convinced he would stay with the Blaugrana - are reportedly not responding, resigned to the fact he'll be pulling on PSG's shirt. The Catalan club's president and directors allegedly have an intuition he'll be leaving, but, as mentioned, are yet to hear from him or his father, and are therefore learning about the news from the press.
Barcelona will report PSG for a breach of UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules if Les Parisiens end up paying the footballer's €222-million buyout clause, per ESPN FC's Samuel Mersden, as the Blaugrana believe there's no club capable of paying that sort of money. La Liga president Javier Tebas Medrano is also threatening legal action, telling Mundo Deportivo's Manel Beuna: "We will do it because it violates UEFA's Financial Fair Play and the European Union's competition rules. We are going to report to UEFA and if it's ignored, we will take it to the Swiss courts of competition and Brussels, and we don't rule out the courts of France and Spain."
PSG reportedly made an offer to Neymar of €30 million per year after tax, but, since Barcelona was unwilling to negotiate a sale, the only way for the transfer to be completed is for Les Parisiens to match the €222-million buyout clause.
Barcelona will play Real Madrid in Miami on Saturday as part of the International Champions Cup. The game will mark the first time El Clasico is played in the United States.
