Marseille's Michy Batshuayi named Ligue 1 player of the month
One month after Marseille's standout reclamation project Lassana Diarra was awarded Ligue 1's player of the month, fellow Les Olympiens teammate Michy Batshuayi has won October's honour, the club announced Friday.
The 24-year-old Brussels-born striker has been one of the bright spots at Stade Velodrome this season with eight goals through 13 league matches, one behind league-leaders Benjamin Moukandjo of Lorient and Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The monthly award is determined by votes from members of L'Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels (UNFP). Batshuayi, who recently picked up his first two senior caps for Belgium, received 43 percent of the vote, beating out Moukandjo and PSG full-back Serge Aurier.
