Celta Vigo's Claudio Beauvue ready to move past rough patch at Lyon

With a difficult spell with Lyon now in the rear-view, Celta de Vigo's newest player, Claudio Beauvue, is relieved to be starting the next chapter of his career with the fifth-place Galicians.

Beauvue, 27, joined Les Gones in the summer from Guingamp, but found his tenure with Lyon a struggle, prompting his interest to leave during the January transfer window.

Luckily for the Guadeloupe-born striker, Celta felt compelled to sign the player, and completed the move last week.

"I'm happy for me, my family, everyone who suffered with me during the Lyon adventure," Beauvue told RMC, courtesy of ESPN FC.

Beauvue's tenure with Lyon was always a mercurial one. The striker failed to shake then-manager Hubert Fournier's hand after being subbed off in a match, and followed that up with an incident where he goaded Les Gones supporters during his last match with the club.

Lyon reportedly received €5-million up front, and could receive another €2.5 million in potential bonuses based on the exploits of his five-and-a-half year deal with the Spaniards, thereby justifying his €5-million price from Guingamp six months earlier.

When asked about his time with Lyon, Beauvue was rather candid in his assessment, saying, "I shared many things that didn't please me internally."

"I don't want to go back over it. Those who know me know that I'm a person of integrity."

Rarely afraid to share his two cents, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas offered his perspective on Beauvue's spell with the club.

"When a player expresses his willingness to leave and he says some not very pleasant things to his colleagues, it's difficult to manage," Aulas told reporters.

"Concerning Claudio, he disappointed me a lot. It's not the worst of disappointments but it's true that he had an abnormal attitude for a top-level player."
