Monaco's Nabil Dirar banned 3 matches
Monaco attacker Nabil Dirar has been handed a three-match ban for leaning his head into the match official after being sent off for two yellow cards in last weekend's 1-0 victory over South Coast rivals Nice.
Upset that he was harshly adjudged for a second foul, Dirar aggressively pursued official Tony Chapron, standing face to face with the referee before making contact with his head.
The Moroccan international took to his Instagram page to apologize for the incident, admitting he was "stupid to have got a red card like that," according to ESPN FC.
After reading Chapron's post-match report, Ligue 1 decided on Thursday evening to suspend Dirar for his conduct during the Cote D'Azur Derby.
Dirar will miss Ligue 1 tilts with Saint-Etienne, Troyes, and Nantes, as the second-place principality club looks to hold onto its second-place standing and a coveted Champions League spot.
