Troyes made official something that was months in the making, as Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Angers meant the reigning Ligue 2 champion has been relegated from the French top flight.

With just two victories this season paired with eight draws and an atrocious 22 defeats, Troyes' fate was sealed well before the loss at home to Angers.

It was the club's 16th straight match without a victory and the first time the visitors won two matches on the trot since October.

Zero home wins sets an unfortunate standard for Ligue 1 futility, while a goal differential of minus-49 is the worst in the league by a margin of 34.

Among the noteworthy numbers in support of a dismal campaign, one stands out: Table-toppers Paris Saint-Germain destroyed Troyes at the Stade de l'Aube on Mar. 13, eclipsing the eight goals the club scored at home all season.

Only Arles-Avignon, who were relegated after 31 matches in 2010-11 were sent down sooner than Troyes in the 20-club era.
