Report: PSG to make Icardi's move permanent for around €60M

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are nearing an agreement to make Mauro Icardi's move to the French capital permanent, sources told Julien Laurens of ESPN.

Icardi, 27, arrived at PSG last summer on an initial loan. The deal included a purchase option of €70 million, though the financial difficulties created by the coronavirus crisis forced PSG to renegotiate those terms.

Inter were initially unwilling to budge on their valuation but talks intensified over the weekend and a breakthrough was made on Sunday between the sides, according to Laurens.

Wanda Nara, Icardi's wife and agent, played a key role in negotiating contract terms for the striker and encouraging Inter to lower their asking price, Laurens added.

The two clubs are close to finalizing a transfer fee expected to be around €55 million to €60 million, depending on bonuses. Discussions between the sides will continue throughout the week.

Prior to the cancellation of the Ligue 1 season, Icardi scored 12 goals in 20 league matches for PSG, adding five tallies in six Champions League appearances.

If he is retained, his permanent arrival will coincide with the departure of Edinson Cavani, whose contract expires this summer. The Uruguayan has garnered interest from several clubs, including Inter, Atletico Madrid, and Inter Miami of Major League Soccer.
