Buffon breaks Maldini's record for most Serie A appearances

Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has once again etched his name in the annals of Italian footballing lore.
The 42-year-old 'keeper made history on Saturday, recording his 648th Serie A appearance in the derby against Torino, surpassing the previous standard set by former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini.

Buffon made his Serie A debut playing for Parma, keeping a clean sheet in the scoreless draw with Milan on Nov. 19, 1995, that came two months shy of his 18th birthday.
In 18 seasons with Juventus, Buffon has claimed the Scudetto on nine occasions and been named Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year 11 times.
Buffon now has 670 appearances for Juventus in all competitions, which is second to Alessandro Del Piero, who recorded 705.
