Weston McKennie has completed his switch to Juventus.

The American midfielder joined the Italian giants on a season-long loan Saturday. The move will turn into a permanent transfer if McKennie meets certain targets.

Juventus paid Schalke €4.5 million to acquire McKennie on a temporary basis, with the potential permanent move costing the Bianconeri €18.5 million. Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport understands the 22-year-old will automatically join Juventus on a full-time basis if he appears in 60% of games during the 2020-21 season.

"Obviously, deciding to let go one of our most talented players like Weston is partly down to the financial state the club is in," admitted Schalke's head of sport, Jochen Schneider. "We would like to thank Weston for his outstanding performances and wish him all the best for his time at Juventus."

Overall, McKennie made 91 appearances for Schalke, scoring five goals. He's also represented the United States men's national team on 19 occasions.
