Prodigious Manchester City attacking midfielder Manu Garcia has joined La Liga new-boy Alaves on a year-long loan.
Alaves, the 2001 UEFA Cup finalist, who have been promoted to the top flight after a spell in lower league football, announced the move on its website Tuesday.
Born in Oviedo, three hours west of Alaves' Basque Country locale Vitoria-Gasteiz, Garcia makes his return to Spanish football after emerging from Sporting Gijon's youth setup to join City in 2014.

Handed his first-team debut last season under Manuel Pellegrini, Garcia, 18, has vaulted from the club's academy to the Under-21's and finally the senior side, making his debut for the club in a preseason friendly against MLS side Toronto FC.
Garcia made his professional debut in September 2015, coming on as a 74th-minute substitute for Sergio Aguero in a 4-1 League Cup victory over Sunderland. He bagged his maiden first-team goal in the same 5-1 domestic cup defeat of Crystal Palace, before making his Premier League debut in March 2016 when he came on for Yaya Toure against Aston Villa.
