Lionel Messi named La Liga Player of the Year
It's awards season in the football world, and Spanish football governing body LFP handed out the annual La Liga awards at a ceremony in Barcelona on Monday night. To the surprise of absolutely nobody in attendance, Lionel Messi won Player of the Year.

There are no individual honours the diminutive Argentine international hasn't won, as his treble-winning campaign with Barca was highlighted by an astounding 43 goals and 18 assists.
Following a knee injury that sidelined Messi for eight weeks, he has returned to the fold at Camp Nou, and perhaps what's scariest about the three-time Champions League victor is that he, Luis Suarez, and Neymar have formed Europe's most lethal attack trio, with no signs of relenting.
