Accolades
Prior to his showcase, the hulking 255-pound athlete received praise from many sources, including former MLBers Aardsma, Gary Sheffield, and Chad Moeller:
Sheffield:
I swear to you guys today. After I saw the first swing, I said 'I can work with that.' We proceeded to work for 2 1/2 hours and when I saw the bat speed he had, I was shocked.
Moeller:
I am beyond impressed with Tim’s athleticism and swing, and it goes without saying that he has shown a high level of discipline and strong work ethic. I see bat speed and power and real baseball talent. I truly believe Tim has the skill set and potential to achieve his goal of playing in the major leagues, and based on what I have seen over the past two months, it could happen relatively quickly.
Aardsma:
When I walked away, as a pitcher, I was pretty impressed. He needs to see a lot more pitching and understand what the pitcher is watching and seeing from him and adjusting. That's not something you know until you're in it. I'd get him to (instructional league), work his butt and get him to play winter league. Get him on the field every day, facing different pitchers. I would not be surprised if he's in Double-A next year. I'd put the talent there right now.
Can he hit?
