New York Mets prospect Carson Benge will be the club's starting right fielder to begin the 2026 season, the team announced Monday.
Benge is set to make his MLB debut Thursday versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Opening Day.
The 23-year-old is the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Mets' minor-league system and No. 16 overall in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.
Benge went 15-for-41 with five RBIs and an .874 OPS over 14 games during spring training to earn the job. He also went deep 15 times with 73 RBIs, 22 stolen bases, and an .857 OPS across 116 contests between three minor-league levels in 2025.
The Mets selected Benge 19th overall in the 2024 draft.
