It's been four years since Bobby Valentine last managed in the big leagues, though he may have another job lined up. It's just not the kind you'd expect.
Valentine is on a shortlist of potential candidates to be the United States Ambassador to Japan, according to a report from Rob Bradford of WEEI.com.
Currently serving as the athletic director at Sacred Heart University, Valentine has reportedly been involved in early talks with President-elect Donald Trump's transition team.
In addition to managing the Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets, Valentine spent seven seasons in Japan managing the Chiba Lotte Marines, leading them to a championship in 2005.
