Report: Veteran Braves players lobbying team to hire Royals GM
The Atlanta Braves don't currently have a de facto general manager, but the players seem to know who they want.
Multiple veteran players on the Braves are reportedly lobbying for the team to hire current Kansas City Royals GM Dayton Moore to fill the void left by John Coppolella's resignation earlier this month, reports Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
Shortly after Coppolella vacated his position amid an investigation by MLB for allegedly violating international spending rules, it was reported that associates close to Moore believed he was likely to replace the disgraced executive in Atlanta.
Moore previously worked in the Braves organization for 12 years, first joining in 1994 as a scout. He eventually became the club's assistant GM before moving to Kansas City in 2006. While in Atlanta, he worked under current Braves vice chairman John Schuerholz, who reportedly would love to have Moore return to the Braves.
Moore signed a contract extension with Kansas City in February 2016, though the length of the deal was never officially disclosed.
