Vladdy Jr.'s HR resembles dad's walk-off at Big O from 1999
Vladdy Guerrero Jr. provided a moment almost 20 years in the making.
Playing in the building he was raised in as a young child, and wearing his father's No. 27, the 19-year-old blasted a walk-off home run into the stands at Olympic Stadium for a 1-0 win Tuesday over the St. Louis Cardinals to end spring training.
If that home run brought on a case of deja vu for Expos fans, it's within reason. Vladdy Sr. belted seven walk-off homers during his eight years in Montreal - including one from June 29, 1999 against the Atlanta Braves that landed in almost the same spot that his son's did almost 20 years later.
While Vlad Jr. certainly won't remember seeing his dad's home run live - he was only three months old at the time - Vlad Sr. won't forget his son's big moment considering he had a front-row seat:
"These two days have been amazing for me," Guerrero said, according to the Canadian Press. "It’s like a dream come true. Of course, having that chance to help the team win is something I’m always going to remember."
