Blue Jays' Donaldson returns to 3rd base for 1st time since Opening Day
Josh Donaldson is back at the hot corner.
Shoulder issues during the Toronto Blue Jays' home opener forced Donaldson to serve as the designated hitter for four days, but the "dead arm" that plagued him is apparently in the past, as the 32-year-old will return to third base for the first time in nearly a week Tuesday when the Blue Jays host the Chicago White Sox.
The move allows regular DH Kendrys Morales to make only his second start of the season, hitting sixth. Utility man Yangervis Solarte, who filled in at third during Donaldson's absence, will man second base Tuesday, giving Devon Travis a night off.
Donaldson battled through some injury issues during spring training, and then struggled with his throws in the March 29 regular-season opener. Following that contest, manager John Gibbons said Donaldson was playing through a dead arm, necessitating the brief move to DH.
Donaldson crushed his first home run of the season Monday, a solo shot off Chicago's Reynaldo Lopez. During his four-game stint at DH, he hit .214 (3-for-14) with four runs scored and three walks.
