Mariners place Dee Gordon on DL with fractured toe
The Seattle Mariners' bad luck continued Tuesday as the team placed Dee Gordon on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured right toe, retroactive to May 21.
Seattle's announcement did not mention how long Gordon would be out of action.
Gordon originally injured his toe May 9 against the Toronto Blue Jays and reinjured it Sunday against the Detroit Tigers.
The 30-year-old had just shifted from the outfield to second base in place of the recently suspended Robinson Cano.
Gordon was hitting .304/.330/.386 with 10 doubles and 13 RBIs, and led the American League in stolen bases with 16.
In a corresponding move, the Mariners recalled infielder Daniel Vogelbach from Triple-A Tacoma.
Vogelbach, 25, has appeared in 19 games for the Mariners this season, hitting .204/.317/.352 with two home runs and five RBIs.
In 24 games with Tacoma, Vogelbach's slash line is .301/.449/.711 with nine homers and 15 RBIs.
