Yankees seeking trade for Gray

Sonny Gray's tenure in the Bronx isn't likely to last much longer.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said he'll be seeking a trade for the right-hander, according to The Athletic's Marc Carig.

Gray was acquired from the Oakland Athletics during the 2017 season, but struggled with the Yanks this year, going 11-9 with a 4.90 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. The right-hander was left off of the Yankees' postseason roster, as the club notably went with midseason acquisition Lance Lynn.

The 28-year-old Gray finished third in American League Cy Young voting in 2015 after posting a 2.73 ERA, but he's been largely inconsistent ever since.

Gray is entering his final offseason of arbitration eligibility before becoming a free agent next winter.
