Report: Brewers, Moustakas reunion 'seems inevitable'
Free-agent third baseman Mike Moustakas could be heading back to the Milwaukee Brewers, as a reunion between the two sides "seems inevitable," according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Rosenthal notes that the chances of a reunion will only increase if superstar free agents Manny Machado and - to a lesser extent - Bryce Harper continue to linger on the market, as a team that loses out on either player could sign Moustakas for more than what the Brewers would like to offer.
The Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres have reportedly expressed interest in the 30-year-old throughout free agency, and also appear to be chasing Harper and Machado, according to reports.
Rosenthal speculates that the Brewers might only be interested in a one-year deal with Moustakas, as Travis Shaw could move to second for the 2019 season and then back to third when top prospect Keston Hiura is ready for the majors.
Moustakas slashed a combined .251/.315/.459 with 28 home runs and 95 RBIs across 156 games with the Kansas City Royals and Brewers in 2018.
