Astros' Correa explains rib fracture after social media speculation
Carlos Correa and his fiancee Daniella Rodriguez released a video Friday detailing how the Houston Astros shortstop fractured his rib this week during a massage, an injury that will sideline him for up to six weeks.
The couple took the opportunity to rebuke social media users who labeled the incident a domestic violence issue.
"Some people have taken the opportunity to blame me for the situation that occurred," said Rodriguez. "Some people have gone to the extent of saying it was domestic violence and we're just here to let you guys know that is not a joke.
"Domestic violence is not something to joke around about ... It is just not OK to say things like that."
Correa at one point took off his shirt to show there wasn't any bruising.
"There's no bruises like I fell on something or I got hit," he said.
He added, "We're here to tell you the story because a lot of you guys have been concerned."
Correa's injury is a blow for the AL West-leading Astros, who are already without All-Stars George Springer and Jose Altuve due to health issues.
"We're going to stay positive, we're going to focus on the rehab now and focus on everything we can do to get back on the field to help the team and perform for you guys," Correa said. "I can't wait to be back on the field."
