Rockies designate Mark Reynolds for assignment
The Colorado Rockies have designated first baseman Mark Reynolds for assignment, the team announced on Sunday.
Reynolds sits two home runs shy of 300 in a career that's spanned 13 years. He's played in 1,688 games while suiting up for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Nationals, and the Rockies.
The 35-year-old recorded a .601 OPS with just four home runs over 78 games for Colorado this season during his second go-around with the team. In 2017, he posted 30 homers and 97 RBIs with the Rockies.
The club also recalled right-hander Jeff Hoffman, selected the contract of left-hander Sam Howard from Triple-A Albuquerque, and optioned right-hander Antonio Senzatela.
