Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman underwent arthroscopic right elbow surgery in New York on Wednesday, and he's expected to be ready for spring training, the team announced.
Dr. David Altchek removed three fragmented loose bodies and cleaned up multiple bone spurs from Freeman's elbow during the procedure.
The 30-year-old All-Star slashed .295/.389/.549 with 38 home runs and 121 RBIs while helping the Braves win the NL East before the St. Louis Cardinals eliminated them in the NLDS.
Freeman played through his elbow issue in the playoffs after missing a few games at the end of the regular season. He ended up posting a .673 OPS with one homer in five games against the Cardinals.
