Former All-Star Napoli calls Bregman a 'douche' following HR celebration
Alex Bregman hit an early home run off Stephen Strasburg in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night, electrifying the crowd at Minute Maid Park and seemingly ticking off retired All-Star Mike Napoli.
After cranking the first-inning bomb, Bregman carried his bat all the way to first base and attempted to hand it off to coach Don Kelly.
Bregman's dinger gave the Houston Astros the lead in the pivotal contest against the Washington Nationals with his team ahead in the Fall Classic 3-2.
Napoli spent 12 seasons in the big leagues from 2006 to 2017 before retiring in 2018. The catcher and first baseman played for the Los Angeles Angels, Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, and Cleveland Indians, making one All-Star appearance and winning the World Series once.
Michael Morse, a 2014 World Series champion, weighed in too, suggesting Bregman is "asking to get someone hurt on your team" next season with his actions:
Former major-league outfielder Chris Dickerson offered a similar take, which generated a reply from Philadelphia Phillies outfielder and former NL MVP Andrew McCutchen:
