It appears Mookie Betts will soon know what uniform he'll be wearing in 2020.

The Boston Red Sox, who are engaged in Betts trade talks with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, are nearing a decision about what to do with the former AL MVP. That call could come within the next few days, multiple sources familiar with the negotiations told Alex Speier of The Boston Globe.

Speier describes Boston's trade talks as being in a "relatively advanced stage," with the Dodgers and Padres outlining multiple proposals. Still, a source from one of the clubs involved told Speier the Red Sox haven't requested final proposals from either team.

Discussions between Boston and San Diego have reportedly centered around Betts heading west for outfielder/first baseman Wil Myers and a package of young players. But talks have reportedly hit a snag over how much Boston would cover of the $61 million Myers is owed through 2022.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, are dangling young outfielder Alex Verdugo as the headliner in a potential package for Betts. They've also spoken to the Red Sox about doing a larger deal for both Betts and left-hander David Price - who's owed $96 million over the next three seasons - in exchange for a more significant package of prospects and major-league players.

Speculation about a Betts trade has been swirling all winter, and especially in recent weeks. The Red Sox have reportedly come to "see the benefit" of dealing the 27-year-old before spring training, which begins in less than two weeks.

Betts won his third Silver Slugger and fourth Gold Glove in 2019, all while hitting .295/.391/.524 with 29 homers, 80 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, and an MLB-leading 135 runs scored. He'll earn $27 million in 2020, and is currently slated to reach free agency next October.
