Red Sox trade Mookie, Price to Dodgers in amended deal
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. That's a proverb the Boston Red Sox took to heart while attempting to move 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts.
The Red Sox agreed to trade the four-time All-Star outfielder, left-hander David Price, and cash to the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Alex Verdugo, shortstop Jeter Downs, and catcher Connor Wong, the Red Sox announced Monday.

Boston is expected to cover about half of the $96 million owed to Price over the next three seasons, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
The two clubs were forced to amend a three-team trade first reported last Tuesday after the Red Sox had an issue with Minnesota Twins pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol's medical. Boston projected the right-hander to be a reliever rather than a starter.
Downs, 21, and Wong, 23, are the two prospects heading to Boston this time around. The former put up a .888 OPS while playing at two minor-league levels in 2019, and the latter recorded a .878 OPS in the same situation.
Meanwhile, it seems like Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez remains unimpressed with trading Betts and Price.

Los Angeles and Minnesota agreed to a separate trade, with Graterol, outfield prospect Luke Raley, and the Twins' Competitive Balance Round B draft pick (67th overall) heading to the Dodgers in exchange for pitcher Kenta Maeda, cash, and a low-level prospect.
