The Atlanta Braves notified their full- and part-time employees Friday that they will be paid through May 31 while the 2020 season is delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.
Atlanta is the first known Major League Baseball team to provide employees financial assurances beyond the end of April or beginning of May, sources told McDaniel.
All 30 teams committed to paying staff until April 30 following a $1-million pledge by each club in mid-March. However, plans beyond that date are uncertain.
The Braves' decision comes after four California-based MLB teams reportedly gave their employees an official notice in early April that stated the clubs can immediately cut jobs if needed.
