The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum expects to announce a decision in early May regarding the 2020 induction ceremony in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, according to Kevin Kernan of the New York Post.
The Hall will decide whether to proceed with the induction on the weekend of July 26, push it back to another date later this year, or combine it with the 2021 ceremony, Kernan added.
"The health and public safety aspect of it is paramount," Hall of Fame vice president of communications and education Jon Shestakofsky said Tuesday. “But we also consider the experience that we are providing for both the visitors and for members of our Hall of Fame family that would be traveling.
“Pretty much everything remains on the table, other than a virtual event."
The class of 2020 includes Derek Jeter, Larry Walker, Marvin Miller, and Ted Simmons.
