Cubs president believes fans will be able to attend games at Wrigley
Chicago Cubs president of business operations Crane Kenney said that some spectators will be able to return to Wrigley Field during the shortened 2020 season.
"We are at a point where we believe we can bring some portion of our fan base back to Wrigley field," Kenney said Thursday on ESPN 1000.
Kenney said rooftops behind right and left field could be used for viewing while the team waits for the city of Chicago to sign off on new safety measures for the ballpark due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"It looks like they can because each one is an individual address and capacity is limited," he said.
As of Friday, Illinois is permitting 20% capacity for businesses in the state, which is a part of Phase 4 of coronavirus recovery. The plan includes Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox.
Kenney acknowledged that tickets aren't available yet but that around 8,000 fans could be allowed into Wrigley per game. He added that season-ticket holders will likely get priority.
