Report: Blue Jays preparing to leave Florida, train at Rogers Centre
The Toronto Blue Jays have told their players to prepare to travel to Toronto for training at the Rogers Centre, according to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.
The team began packing up its camp equipment in Dunedin, Fla. on Sunday and loading it into trucks to head north, according to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun. Official confirmation of the trip is expected early next week, Longley adds.
Some players planned to fly to Toronto on Sunday or Monday, but the club has informed them to sit tight while the Blue Jays await approval from the Canadian government, Davidi adds.
On Saturday, team president of baseball operations Mark Shapiro stated no official decision had been made.
It's unclear whether the Blue Jays plan to play the 2020 season in Toronto as well, though Shapiro also noted on Saturday that Buffalo - where the club's Triple-A team is located - isn't an option.
Under Major League Baseball's return-to-play plan, camps are scheduled to open on July 1.
