The Los Angeles Dodgers placed catcher Will Smith on the 10-day injured list with neck inflammation, the team announced Saturday, according to Jorge Castillo of The Los Angeles Times.

In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled Keibert Ruiz, who's the team's No. 3 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Ruiz is also the No. 7 catching prospect in all of baseball and 79th overall.

The 22-year-old is slated to make his major-league debut Sunday against the Los Angeles Angels, Castillo adds.

Ruiz posted a .261/.331/.347 slash line with six homers in 85 games across two minor-league levels last year.

Smith injured his neck during a collision last week and hasn't played since Wednesday against the San Diego Padres. The 25-year-old catcher is hitting .188/.341/.406 with two homers in 14 games this year.
