Report: Royals calling up Matt Harvey
The "Dark Knight" is returning to Major League Baseball.
The Kansas City Royals are promoting right-hander Matt Harvey to the major-league roster, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Harvey will start one of Wednesday's scheduled games against the Cincinnati Reds, according to Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com. The two teams are set to play a doubleheader after Tuesday's contest was postponed while the Reds await COVID-19 test results.
Harvey signed a minor-league contract with the Royals in late July.
The now-31-year-old recorded a 7.09 ERA in 12 starts with the Los Angeles Angels in 2019. The former All-Star owns a career 4.04 ERA across seven seasons with the New York Mets, Reds, and Angels.
Kansas City's starting rotation comes into Tuesday with the third-worst WAR (0.6) in the American League, according to FanGraphs.
