Members of The Players Alliance will donate their salaries from Thursday and Friday to "combat racial inequality and aid the Black families and communities deeply affected in the wake of recent events," the group announced Thursday.

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he will join the alliance in donating his salary, according to James Wagner of the New York Times.

The Players Alliance is made up of over 100 Black current and former MLB players. Curtis Granderson serves as president, C.C. Sabathia is the vice president, and Edwin Jackson is the secretary. Some of the game's biggest stars, including Mookie Betts and Aaron Judge, are members. Its full roster can be found here.

"We are determined to use our platform to speak out, and encourage our teammates and fans to help make our voices even louder," the release states.

Friday is Jackie Robinson Day. Though it's typically celebrated April 15 - the day he made his MLB debut - it was changed this year due to COVID-19.
