Blue Jays' Bichette to play Saturday vs. Mets
The Toronto Blue Jays activated shortstop Bo Bichette from the injured list, the team announced Saturday.
Bichette will hit second in the lineup against the New York Mets.
Bichette hasn't appeared in a game since Aug. 15 when he suffered a Grade 1 sprain of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee while in the on-deck circle.
"I did a stretch and my knee just popped," he said, according to Nicholson-Smith.
The 22-year-old is hoping to play every day but understands rest will need to be mixed in.
Bichette explained he can play at maximum effort after recently participating in a simulated game at the Blue Jays' alternate training site in Rochester, New York.
The Florida native hit .361/.391/.672 with five home runs, four doubles, and 13 RBIs in 14 games this season before landing on the IL.
Toronto optioned right-hander Jacob Waguespack to make room for Bichette on the active roster.
