Burnes would miss time in playoffs due to oblique strain if Brewers qualify
Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Corbin Burnes has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain, the team announced Friday.
If the Brewers were to advance to the playoffs, manager Craig Counsell said Burnes would miss the first round and probably the second, according to Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Milwaukee sits one game behind the San Francisco Giants for the No. 8 seed in the National League entering Friday's action.
Burnes pitched his way into the NL Cy Young conversation thanks to a breakout season on the mound. The 25-year-old posted a 2.11 ERA with a 13.3 K/9 across 12 games (nine starts) for the Brewers.
Infielder Ryon Healy and right-hander J.P. Feyereisen were recalled in a pair of corresponding moves.
