Report: DeGrom changes agency, leaves Van Wagenen's former employer
New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is now represented by VC Sports Group after leaving CAA, sources told Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Brodie Van Wagenen represented the three-time All-Star at CAA before the former left the agency to become Mets general manager in October 2018. The Mets announced Friday after new owner Steve Cohen completed his purchase of the club that Van Wagenen is leaving the organization.
DeGrom, a National League Cy Young finalist for a third straight year after back-to-back wins, signed a five-year, $137.5-million extension in March 2019. Van Wagenen reportedly sat out those contract negotiations because of his previous business relationship with the 32-year-old hurler.
VC Sports Group also represents Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts.
