Boras: 'A normal season' is important for baseball's integrity

Agent Scott Boras hopes MLB can stage a 2021 campaign that doesn't resemble last season, which was shortened to 60 games due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think it's very important to the safety standpoint and integrity of the game that we have a normal season," Boras said Tuesday, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.

Boras' comments come after a report suggested owners and team executives want the new season delayed until May. The MLBPA, meanwhile, is focused on playing a 162-game campaign that would begin in April.

The league said in late October that it suffered $3.1 billion in losses during 2020. However, Boras insisted clubs still made money.

"A lot of teams lost profits. Great profits," Boras said. "But we know this: In operating the game and having baseball games, teams make money. ... Even without fans, we know that players playing baseball games makes money for MLB teams."
