Left-hander Amir Garrett believes he's the best ninth-inning option for the Cincinnati Reds in 2021.

"To me, it's mine to lose," Garrett said Tuesday when asked about the closer's job, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. "I'm just going to go in there and take it. Not a lot of things are earned, and nothing is given. I'm just going to go and take it."

Cincinnati is looking for a new closer after Raisel Iglesias was traded to the Los Angeles Angels last week.

Reds manager David Bell said Monday that Garrett will be a candidate for the role, according to Sheldon. Relievers Lucas Sims and Tejay Antone are also in the mix.

"I don't see who else would get the role," Garrett said. "I know there's a lot of guys who are deserving, but I've done this consistently for three years. I've waited my turn. Management and David know I want to be a closer."

The 28-year-old posted a 2.45 ERA with a 12.8 K/9 over 21 appearances for the Reds last season.
