The Oakland Athletics placed left-hander Jesus Luzardo on the injured list with a fracture in his left hand, the team announced Sunday.
Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Luzardo has a hairline fracture in his pinky finger, according to Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle. The skipper added Luzardo was playing a video game before his start and bumped his hand on a desk.
The 23-year-old ended up pitching Saturday and the injury was discovered through an X-ray after the game. He gave up six runs over three innings against the Baltimore Orioles.
Luzardo, a former top pitching prospect, owns a 5.79 ERA over six starts in 2021.
Adam Kolarek was recalled to take Luzardo's spot on the active major-league roster.
