It's been more than two years since Jose Bautista appeared in a Major League Baseball game, but it doesn't look like he's done taking the field yet.

The ex-Toronto Blue Jays slugger is part of the Dominican Republic's Olympic qualifying roster, according to Baseball America.

Bautista, 40, lasted suited up in a major-league game with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2018.

The former six-time All-Star spent his best years with the Blue Jays, hitting 54 home runs in 2010. He finished among the top 10 in American League MVP voting four times between 2010 and 2015.

Fellow former major leaguers Melky Cabrera and Emilio Bonifacio join Bautista on the roster. Top-ranked prospect Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners will also participate.

Olympic qualifying games are expected to take place from May 31 to June 5. The Dominican Republic's first game is against Puerto Rico on May 31 at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
