The New York Yankees reinstated right-hander Luis Severino from the 60-day injured list, the club announced Monday.

Severino hasn't pitched in the majors for almost two years after dealing with several injuries. His last appearance for the Yankees was in October 2019 during the playoffs, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2020.

New York plans to use the 27-year-old as a reliever, according to Lindsey Adler of The Athletic.

Severino owns a 3.46 ERA with 589 strikeouts over 530 innings over his five-year career with the Yankees. He's appeared in 99 games (88 starts) and was named an All-Star in 2017 and 2018.
