Giants' Webb, Gausman to start Games 1, 2 of NLDS
The San Francisco Giants named Logan Webb and Kevin Gausman as the starters for Games 1 and 2, respectively, of the NLDS, manager Gabe Kapler said Wednesday, according to Janie McCauley of The Associated Press.
Gausman registered a team-high 14 wins this season, but Kapler noted the hurler's success with an additional day of rest is among the reasons for his decision, per McCauley. The 30-year-old registered a 2.81 ERA over 33 starts and earned his first All-Star selection during the 2021 campaign.
Webb produced an 11-3 record with a 3.03 ERA across a career-high 26 starts. He struck out 158 batters over 148.1 innings pitched.
San Francisco compiled an MLB-leading 107-55 record during the regular season to claim its first NL West division title since 2012. The Giants will take on the winner of Wednesday's wild-card showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals.
