Outfielder Avisail Garcia is a free agent after opting out of his contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Garcia earned enough plate appearances in 2021 to turn a 2022 club option into a mutual option, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. He was in line to make $12 million next season.
The 30-year-old hit a career-best 29 home runs with 86 RBIs and a .820 OPS over 135 games for the NL Central champions.
Garcia owns a .270/.325/.431 slash line with 127 round-trippers over 10 years in the majors with the Brewers, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, and Tampa Bay Rays.
