The New York Yankees offered right-hander Justin Verlander a one-year, $25-million contract in free agency, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Verlander turned the Yankees down to re-sign with the Houston Astros on a one-year pact reportedly worth $25 million with a $25-million player option for 2023.
The two-time Cy Young winner rejected the Astros' qualifying offer before inking his new deal.
The 38-year-old made one start over the last two seasons after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
