The Chicago Cubs and left-hander Drew Smyly have agreed to a one-year, $5.25-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
The reported pact includes $2.5 million in performance bonuses.
Smyly posted a 4.48 ERA with 117 strikeouts over 126 2/3 innings (23 starts) for the Atlanta Braves last season. He's also pitched for the Detroit Tigers, Tampa Bay Rays, Texas Rangers, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants over his eight-year MLB career.
The 32-year-old will likely join newcomers Marcus Stroman and Wade Miley as part of Chicago's revamped rotation.
